June Menu and Happy Hour Specials

You will notice the addition of one of my favorite fruits to the menu this month… watermelon! Our salad special is a spring mix with watermelon, pecans and Gorgonzola cheese in a honey grapefruit vinaigrette. If you’re looking for something refreshing and light during happy hour, our watermelon and feta salad is a great start.

I am really excited about our June appetizer special, too. The pita flatbread comes with marinated heirloom tomatoes, prosciutto, goat cheese and basil pesto. It has been very popular so far. Of course, if you are just stopping by for dessert, a glass of port wine and our kiwi vanilla cupcake is a delicious way to end the evening.

Stop in and enjoy a delicious, hand crafted, meal. As always, if you have any suggestions or comments, we would love to hear from you.

This Month’s Specials From Malissa Sorsby, Executive Chef

Spring is a nice time of year to check back in with that New Year’s Resolution to eat healthier! Our specials, along with our menu, are selected to not only match the season but to offer the most fresh, and organic, food available for that time of year.

This month our specials include a tomato basil soup and a spring mix salad with spicy pickled green beans, radishes, cherry tomato, topped with Parmesan cheese and lemon balsamic vinaigrette. If you’re feeling like you need a snack before dinner try our chicken lettuce wraps with sautéed veggies and citrus Hoisin.

I always love our popular pasta specials! This month our pasta special is a Caprese lasagna roll with marinara sauce. If you’re looking for that special dessert to follow, or if it’s just a dessert night, try our lemon poppy cupcake with raspberry cream cheese frosting.

Did you know we have a Gluten Free Menu? Last week a visitor came in with their dog and said, “thank you for having a dog friendly patio and a gluten free menu, there aren’t many places that have both!” We do our best to accommodate everyone at the Pub!

From The Kitchen: February Specials

I’m excited to tell you about our delicious monthly specials. Our soup this month is the highly requested vegetarian chili! Last year, we made our chili available vegetarian or with natural certified ground Angus beef and we’ll be doing the same again this year. Don’t forget to pair your bowl of chili with a side of our delicious homemade cornbread for an absolutely hearty, and warming, meal.

Also, this month for Happy Hour we have kept some well-loved favorites like our cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in prosciutto, as well as our kale and artichoke dip with grilled levain (a whole wheat sourdough) bread.

We have also added new treats, my personal favorite snack, kalamata tapanade and goat cheese crostinis, finished with fresh lemon zest! We have also added a chilled lemon orzo salad with artichoke hearts and sundried tomato, a perfect compliment to a sunny Happy Hour on our patio. Whether you are coming in for a full meal, or just a light snack before heading home, we are always so happy to have the opportunity to create delicious food for you. Cheers!

September News from the Kitchen

September has arrived and with it some treats from the kitchen. Come to The Wine Pub this month to enjoy the taste of September!

  • We’ve included a great blend of heirlooms on our house salad with strawberries, in the caprese salad and on our happy hour menu.
  • Our delicious corn chowder comes from locally grown corn for a refreshing taste bursting with jalapeno, sweet onion, garlic and herbs.
  • The entrée special brings back the ever-popular barbecue pulled chicken in our spin on enchiladas—don’t forget our chicken is certified organic! Even if you’re not the biggest fan of veggies, the corn salsa on the side is amazing.
  • Reminder: Tuesday is Free App day! Join us any time on Tuesday to receive a free chef’s selection appetizer of the day.

We look forward to seeing you at The Wine Pub this month!

Value-priced wine pairings for the holidays

This year we’ve created some value priced wine packages to complement your holiday entertaining. You won’t find these wines at Vons or BevMo – they are from small boutique wineries and are specially priced just for the month of December.

Whites and bubbles:

  • Ventana Sauvignon Blanc, Arroyo Seco
  • Six Degrees Chardonnay, California
  • Tobin James Dream Weaver Sparkling Wine

Retail $58, Special Package Price $45

This group of wines is very food friendly. They are great with appetizers, salads and lighter entrees. Pair the Sauvignon Blanc with a nice seafood appetizer, the chardonnay with a salad or soup and the Sparkling Wine with really anything – it is so versatile.

Mix it Up:

  • Saddleback Cellars Chardonnay, Napa Valley
  • Highway 12 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County
  • Pierre Chanier Brut Sparkling Wine, France

Retail $78, Special Package Price $59

These wines are a bit more bold in flavor so the Chardonnay would work well with a richer soup, or flavorful cheeses.  The Cabernet Sauvignon can stand up to a holiday Prime Rib or Lamb.  And the French Sparkling will make a nice pairing with any dessert especially an apple pie or bread pudding.

It’s all about Red!

  • Trione Pinot Noir, Central Coast
  • Siete Fincas Cabernet Sauvignon, Argentina
  • X Winery Red Blend, California

Retail $70, Special Package Price $49

Pinot Noir is a very food friendly wine. It can pair with a soup or salad, or something more significant like a salmon entrée or a mushroom dish.  This particular Cabernet Sauvignon is a great meat wine, from steak to prime rib.  And we love our blends, the X Blend is an easy drinking wine that could pair nicely with a roasted chicken or perhaps some delicious dark chocolate.
